Style Tips and Tricks with Sally Mackinnon

In celebration of our new collection, we’re asking fashionable people from our community (including members of the CC team) to put style up some of their favourite pieces from Uhalisi.

Our Style Series will showcase a diverse range of wardrobes, ages and body types, so you can find multiple ways to make Uhalisi work in the context of your life.

Kicking things off is leading Melbourne personal stylist, wardrobe consultant and creative, Sally Mackinnon. With over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, Sally has carved out her own space using her knowledge of body shapes, trends and the local retail market to help all kinds of clients.

Sally's first look is centred around our amazing Koti Blazer. Playing with the tones of purple and blue throughout the look, Sally's styled a clashing pair of Urafaiki pants with a lilac heel.

For a second, slightly more dressed-up outfit, Sally's wearing our Rafiki Shirt, the matching Utambulisho Skirt and a pair of baby-blue strappy sandals to match the shuka.

Taking the skirt-and-top combo into a more casual context, Sally unbuttoned the Rafiki Shirt, added our Mafalda Tee and a pair of baby-blue flats.

For a little bit of triple-check fun in look four, Sally added our skirt and a pair of red-check flats.

Look five is the elevated office attire at its best. Rolling up the sleeves of our Koti Blazer (available in drop two) and undoing the tie, Sally has pared the look back with a neutral flat, her signature red lip and our Utambulisho Skirt.

Looks six and seven are a trans-seasonal dream. Adding some fun with a chunky white sandal, Sally paired her Urafiki High Waisted Pants with our Mafalda Tee – just add a blazer and heels to transform the look.

Finally, Sally took her office look into the weekend by swapping ballet flats for sandals, loosening up her blazer and adding our Utambulisho Skirt in pistachio green and red.
